New lichen records for the Azores, with the report of some tropical species new to Europe

Seventy-nine lichen species are reported for the first time from the Azores, 39 of which were never reported from the Macaronesian Region. Most are widespread in temperate regions, also in Europe, but the following five are tropical species which are recorded for the first time from Europe: Cryptothecia subtecta, Dimerella frederici, Fissurina dumastii, Heterodermia flabellata, and Phyllopsora breviuscula.
