This thematic volume focuses on the passage between the Middle and Upper Paleolithic, and therefore the replacement of Neanderthals by Homo sapiens, in the Iberian Peninsula. It is a fundamental theme, at the heart of today's fiercest debates! In what form did Homo sapiens arrive in Spain, and from where? What are left as "pockets" of Neanderthals in the south of Spain, when all of Europe was already occupied by Homo sapiens (between 45 000 and 39 000 years ago)? Finally, what were the successive traditions that developed, in the Iberian Peninsula, from the beginning of the Upper Paleolithic?
