The original descriptions of Cololejeunea subscariosa (Spruce) Schust. and C. standleyi (Steph.) Herz are revised, and characters allowing separating them are added. Brief comments on the nomenclature of both species are included. Cololejeunea standleyi is compared to C. linopteroides Robins. and C. sigmoidea Jovet-Ast et Tixier, to which it is closely allied. Cololejeunea subscariosa is a new record for Costa Rica.
