A new case of sexual dimorphism in Schendylidae: first record of the halophilous species Schendylops virgingordae (Crabill, 1960) from Martinique (Myriapoda, Chilopoda, Geophilomorpha)

Schendylops virgingordae (Crabill, 1960), previously known from Virgin Gorda Island (British Virgin Islands) and Venezuelian coast is now reported from Martinique (French West Indies). The male (up to now unknown) and the remarkable sexual dimorphism observed on the antennae are here described and illustrated. A recapitulation of the other cases of this kind of sexual dimorphism in the Neotropical Schendylidae (Schendylops pampeanus, S. perditus and Pertiniunguis argentinensis) and comments on halophilous centipedes and their geographical distribution are given.
