The types of five Podargidae, one Nyctibiidae and four Caprimulgidae taxa are reviewed and commented upon. The Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris owns the holotypes of the following taxa: Podargus papuensis Quoy & Gaimard, 1830, P. vincendonii Hombron & Jacquinot in Jacquinot & Pucheran, 1853, P. ocellatus Quoy & Gaimard, 1830, Batrachostomus hodgsoni indochinae Stresemann, 1937, P. cornutus Temminck in Temminck & Laugier de Chartrouse, 1822, Stenopsis cayennensis manati Pinchon, 1963 and Caprimulgus arundinaceus Hombron & Jacquinot in Jacquinot & Pucheran, 1853, as well as a paratype of Batrachostomus hodgsoni indochinae Stresemann, 1937 and a syntype of Caprimulgus arenicolor Severtzov, 1875. Evidence is lacking for confirming that the designated specimens of Caprimulgus grandis Gmelin, 1789 (Nyctibiidae) and Caprimulgus manurus Vieillot, 1817 (Caprimulgidae) actually are types.
