Lectotypes are designated for the following taxa : Cuculus pyrrhophanus Vieillot, 1817; Cuculus nigrorufus Cuvier, 1817; Cuculus variegatus Vieillot, 1817; Melias diardi Lesson, 1831; Cultrides pucheranii Deville, 1851; Carpococcyx renauldi Oustalet, 1896; Bubutus isidori Lesson, 1831; Bubutus duvaucelii Lesson, 1831; Coccyccus erythrorhynchus Cuvier in Lesson, 1831; Coua cursor Grandidier, 1867; Coua verreauxi Grandidier, 1867; Coua coquereli Grandidier, 1867; Coua cristata pyropyga Grandidier,1867; Coua reynaudii Pucheran, 1845; Coua serriana Pucheran, 1845; Centropus ateralbus Lesson, 1826; Centropus celebensis Quoy & Gaimard, 1830; Centropus savorgnani Oustalet, 1886; Centropus lafresnayanus Verreaux in Vinson, 1865; Centropus pumilus Lesson, 1831; Crotophaga casasii Lesson, 1828. Twenty additional specimens, labelled as "types", but which they are not according to the meaning of type in the Code of Zoological Nomenclature, 1985 edition, are also examined. Cuculus lepidus S. Müller, 1845, is a more recent synonym of Cuculus lineatus Lesson, 1831.
