Fifteen species of Calcinus are now known from French Polynesia. To the eight previously known, Calcinus elegans (H. Milne Edwards, 1836); C. gaimardii (H. Milne Edwards, 1848) sensu lato; C. laevimanus (Randall, 1840); C. latens (Randall, 1840); C. minutus Buitendijk, 1937; C. nitidus Heller, 1865; C. seurati Forest, 1951 and C. spicatus Forest, 1951, four are new records, C. guamensis Wooster, 1984; C. haigae Wooster, 1984; C. imperialis Whitelegge, 1901 and C. vachoni Forest, 1958, and three are described as new, C. gouti, C. isabellae and C. orchidae n.spp. Polynesian Calcinus gaimardii are in fact a special form, Calcinus n.sp. sensu Rahayu, 1992, that should be described in the future. Occurrence of Calcinus minutus needs to be confirmed because it is only known from the literature. A key to the species is given, paying particular attention to colour patterns. Each species is illustrated by a colour photograph.
