Lourenço & Vachon (1995) proposed dividing the genus Orthochirus Karsch, 1891 into two genera by describing Paraorthochirus for certain species in Iran (Muscat), and Afghanistan. In this paper a third genus, Afghanorthochirus n.g., is described and three new species from Afghanistan and Pakistan assigned to it: Afghanorthochirus erardi, Afghanorthochirus monodi and Afghanorthochirus danielleae. Paraorthochirus blandini n.sp., the fourth species in that genus, is also described from Pakistan.
