Twelve species of Ctenophilus Cook, 1896 are regarded as valid. Known Ethiopian and neotropical taxa are listed. Ctenophilus amieti (Demange, 1963), Ctenophilus corticeus (Demange, 1968), Ctenophilus oligopodus (Demange, 1963) and Ctenophilus pratensis (Demange, 1963) are redescribed and figured from type and/or non type specimens. Pleuroschendyla magna Demange, 1963 is considered to be a synonym of Ctenophilus amieti (Demange, 1963). Additional informations on Ctenophilus edentulus (Porat, 1894) and Ctenophilus nesiotes (Chamberlin, 1918) are given from type and/or additional specimens.
