The study of some specimens of scorpions belonging to the genus Chiromachetes Pocock, 1899, deposited in the Natural History Museum of Paris leads to the revalidation of this genus, with a new diagnosis of Chiromachetes fergusoni Pocock and the description of Chiromachetes tirupati n.sp. The two species are only known from the south of India.
