The proboscidean remains discovered at Akkașdağı (late Miocene of Turkey) belong to two elephantoid species:Choerolophodon pentelici (Gaudry & Lartet, 1856) and “Tetralophodon” atticus (Wagner, 1857). This association was previously known in the Turolian locality of Pikermi.
