The study of the bovid material from Akkașdağı allows the identification of seven species: Gazella cf. capricornis, Gazella aff. pilgrimi, Prostrepsiceros rotundicornis, Miotragocerus valenciennesi, Tragoportax aff. amalthea, Pachytragus crassicornis, and Palaeoryx majoriMiotragocerus valenciennesi over Tragoportax gaudryi and the priority of Miotragocerus over other generic names are suggested (Tragocerus, Graecoryx, Sivaceros, Pikermicerus, Dystychoceras). Moreover, Palaeoryx majori is recognized as a valid species and the chrono-spatial relations of Prostrepsiceros and Protoryx/Pachytragus lead to some alternative working hypotheses.
