Morphometric analysis of the Valerots population of voles allow us to recognize three clearly different taxa: Microtus (Allophaiomys) burgondiae, likely the ancestor of the Chionomys lineage, Microtus (Allophaiomys) hintoni nutiensis, likely the ancestor of the Iberomys lineage, and a new form, Microtus (Allophaiomys) valerotensis n. sp., possibly the ancestor of the Stenocranius lineage.
