List of the types of birds in the collections of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle of Paris. 4. Herons (Ardeidae)

The types of eighteen heron (Ardeidae ) taxa are reviewed critically. Lectotypes and paralectotypes are designated for Ardea novae-hollandiae Vieillot, 1817, Ardea australasie Vieillot, 1823 (both descriptions are based on the same specimens), and for Ardea bilineata Cuvier in Lesson, 1831. Four additional specimens, indicated as "types", but hich they are not according to the meaning of type in the Code of Zoological Nomenclature, were also examined.
