A new species of Solitariopagurus is described and illustrated from specimens collected in the deep waters of French Polynesia. Solitariopagurus triprobolus sp. nov. is compared with S. profundus Türkay, the only other species described in the genus, and with species of potentially related genera that use specialized microhabitats.
