Fishing with baited traps in French Polynesia at a depth of 190 m has resulted in the capture of one crab belonging to a new genus and a new species, Pleurocolpus boileaui, described here. The new genus is characterized by a very special arrangement of the chelipeds and the other pereiopods which together provide a deep hollow probably allowing a better circulation of water around the branchiae when the animal is at rest.
