The new monotypic genus Barthlottia from Madagascar is described. It is related to the Southern African Manuleopsis in the tribe Manuleae, but differs in the size and colour of the corolla, the insertion of the stamens and the capitate stigma. This is the first record of a member of the Manuleae for Madagascar.
