The following species of the Cryphaeaceae are proposed for inclusion in the South American Red List based on an analysis of existing information: Cryphaea gracillima Herzog, C. hygrophila Müll. Hal., C. rhacomitrioides Müll. Hal., Cryphidium leucocoleum (Mitt.) A. Jaeger, Dendrocryphaea crassinervis (Broth.) Enroth, D. cuspidata (Sull.) Broth., D. gorveana (Mont.) Paris & Schimp., D. latifolia D.G. Griffin, Gradst., J. Aguirre, D. lechleri (M. Fleisch.) Paris & Schimp., Schoenobryum rubricaule (Mitt.) Manuel are considered vulnerable according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Dendropogonella rufescens (Schimp.) Britt. is considered as regionally extinct in Venezuela.
