Microbryum piptocarpum (Durieu & Mont.) J. Guerra & M. J. Cano is synomized with M. curvicolle (Hedw.) R. H. Zander based on morphological and biometrical studies. Pottia xandalusica Ros & R. Oliva is synomized with Microbryum fosbergii (E. B. Bartram) Ros, O. Werner & Rams comb. nov. Lectotypes are designated for Phascum piptocarpum Durieu & Mont. and P. rectum With.
