Syzygiella riclefii is described as a new species from the Andes of Mérida, Venezuela. It is clearly distinguished from all other species of Syzygiella by its very fragile leaves with revolute margin. Parts of the leaf lamina and the perianth can be transformed into propagules by fragmentation
