Remarkable major range extensions for one species of hepatic and five species of moss are provided. Brachymenium leptophyllum (Müll. Hal.) A. Jaeger is a new addition to the moss flora of mainland Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Plagiochila fusifera Taylor, Fissidens flaccidus Mitt., Macrocoma tenuis (Hook. & Grev.) D. H.Vitt subsp. tenuis, Felipponea assimilis (Müll. Hal.) O’Shea and Scorpiurium circinatum (Brid.) M. Fleisch. & Loeske are recorded for the first time from Socotra Island which administratively belongs to Governorate Hadramout of Yemen. Except for the last, all species are briefly described and illustrated from Yemeni material and the global geographical distribution of all species is reviewed and mapped.
