This paper describes the faunal remains of a temple in lower Mesopotamia belonging to the neo-babylonian tradition. The archaeological context of the bones confirm their ritual and religious character. This archaeozoological study sheds new light on the status and the cultural preference for certain species, particularly Donkey (Equus asinus) for ritual purposes in a non-funerary context.
