A 19th century "naturalist" scholar, Huang Han and his Encyclopaedia of Cats

The Encyclopaedia of Cats shows us how the Utile feline was perceived in China. His author, a 19th century scholar, records the old texts on the cat and comments them from his personal observations and experiences, and those of his well-read friends: it is a combination of practical advices, varied believes and allegories with edifying values.
