This guide describes the plant species of the ocean shores of French Guiana. The first part deals with the plant groups existing in the different types of habitats (sandy and rocky beaches, mangroves and salty mud). The conservation of these fragile habitats, threatened by anthropization, is also discussed. The second part provides detailed descriptions of 208 species. Drawings of the 192 commonest species and photographs illustrate the text. Local names and the geographical distribution of the plants in Guiana and in the world are also mentioned. The guide includes a key, a bibliography, a glossary, and indexes.
