The coast is a conflict interface where it is advisable to set up a coordinated policy of protection. This work lists the elements of the current politics of conservation of the natural patrimony within the framework of an integrated management of the coastal zones of Metropolitan France from a global approach (earth/sea) and multidisciplinary field (law, ecology, biology, geography). It takes for examples three zones: the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, the coastal zone between the bay of Bourgneuf and the Gulf of Morbihan and the Opale Coast. The interactions among the multiple actors imposes a clarification of the network of competence, a harmonization and an institutional coordination. The reform of the status of the CELRL foresees an increase of its intervention in the maritime public domain. It offers sufficient prospects to consolidate this organization in its key actor's role in the protection of the littoral natural patrimony.
