This book is the first one to present the collection of freshwater fish and crustacean decapod species found on Martinique Island. It is intended for naturalists, researchers, teachers or fishermen. It has been drawn up as a tool for administrators in charge of management and conservation of aquatic communities. The first chapter of the book features the various identified species, comprising 22 fish species and 13 decapod crustaceans, inhabiting various, but specific, habitats along the water systems. The history of local ichthyology and species introductions, followed by the catalogue of all species found on the island, are also introduced in subsequent chapters. For each species, a data sheet outlines basic facts regarding its morphology, biology and distribution, and shows a detailed map. Together with photographs or drawings, simple keys aim to help with initial species identification and differentiation.
