Pyrenochaeta ingrati, a new coelomycete isolated from a spoilt commercial apple juice in Japan, is described and illustrated. The new species differs from other species of Pyrenochaeta by the morphology of its conidiomatal setae, conidiophores and conidia. No pathogenicity for the apple fruits could be proven by an artificial inoculation experiment.
