Species of the jacqueti group of the crangonid genus Metacrangon Zarenkov, 1965, are reviewed. A total of eight species, including two new species, are recognized. Metacrangon jacqueti (A. Milne Edwards, 1881), M. agassizii (Smith, 1882) and M. bellmarleyi (Stebbing, 1914) are given full specific status. Taxonomic status of M. knoxi (Yaldwyn, 1960), M. ochotensis (Kobjakova, 1955) and M. procax (Faxon, 1893) are made clearer by an examination of the types. Crago lomae Schmitt, 1921 is synonymized with M. procax. Two new species, M. crosnieri from Madagascar and M. similis from Japan, are described and illustrated. Specimens from north-west Africa remain undeterminable, referred to M. aff. bellmarleyi. Distribution of the species is briefly discussed.
