Sixteen species of Phlebobranchia belonging to the four main families were identified in the Mozambique Channel. Three of them are new species. With eight species, the family Perophoridae is well represented in the Ibo Island area in Mozambique. The local tides and the large mangrove and sea-grass beds are propitious to the development of this family. In contrast, the family Ascidiidae is scarcely present.
