Pliocene vertebrate locality of Çalta, Ankara, Turkey. 9. Cervidae and Cervidae

The deer from Çalta is a true cervine, which looks little different from Cervus perrieri of the European lower Villafranchian. The limb bones of the giraffid, which is close to Giraffa jumae of the African Plio-Pleistocene, are already similar to those of the recent giraffe. Both species suggest a rather late Pliocene age.
